Chelsea Cutler ended off her "When I Close My Eyes" North American tour with a 25th show at Portland's Crystal Ballroom last week in support of the namesake album released in October 2021. Indie singer-songwriter Adam Melchor and upcoming star Rosie, who quickly rose to recognition after a viral TikTok hit, opened up the show as the crowd filled in the large ballroom.
Cutler's set list was a great mix of tracks from When I Close My Eyes, previous albums and EPs, and a few collaboration tracks like "Stay Next to Me," originally recorded with Quinn XCII. The show was such a fun mix of upbeat crowd singalongs and a few slowed down tracks that made the venue immediately feel more intimate.
Towards the end of the set, Cutler reflected on the excitement and honor of being able to tour and play shows again. She even brought the Adam Melchor and Rosie teams on stage alongside a 6-pack of Smirnoff for a good old fashioned 'icing' to celebrate.
The crowd was lively the entire night (much to the dismay of Cutler at times as she tried to keep the audience quiet while she spoke), and the on-stage visuals were stunning. I loved the elevated platform to highlight drummer Gavin and keyboardist J.T., and the on-screen visualizers made each song a unique experience.
For anyone looking for a fun, energetic, feel good show, a Chelsea Cutler set is the place to be! I will absolutely be snagging tickets as soon as more dates pop up later this year. Check out When I Close My Eyes here and don't miss the full photo gallery below.
