Dead Sara kicks off US tour with powerhouse set at the Roseland Theater

LA-based trio Dead Sara kicked off a night of rock-n-roll at Portland's Roseland Theater on Tuesday, February 8. This show marked the first date of their run opening for rock icons Slash with Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators. The band headed out on the road in support of their latest album release, Ain't It Tragic.

Dead Sara came on stage with explosive energy, kicking off their set with a throwback hit from their discography, then jumping right into all the favorites from Ain’t It Tragic, including “All I Know Is That You Left Me for Dead” and “Hypnotic.”

The set closed out with their hit “Weatherman,” but not before Armstrong led an unexpected, yet powerful, sing-along of “Amazing Grace” with the crowd. Driving bass lines pounded through the venue that left my heart racing in excitement even after the house lights came up.

Frontwoman Emily Armstrong used the stage to her advantage, interacting with the guitarist and bassist, swinging around the corded mic, and being everything I would want a rocker frontwoman to be — loud, bold, and uninhibited.

The headliner naturally drew in an older crowd, but Dead Sara’s youthful and energizing passion buzzed through the audience. The larger venue felt like a small club as concertgoers moved along to the music from start to finish.

While Dead Sara may have just been the opener at this show, I have no doubt that they could pack quite the crowd for a headlining show of their own.

Catch Dead Sara on The River Is Rising Tour until February 23 in Denver, CO.
