spill tab, the multi-talented, French-Korean-American artist shared her dreamy alt-pop in an incredible set at Portland's Crystal Ballroom as she opened up the show for Wallows.

As the moniker of Claire Chicha, spill tab broke onto the music scene mid-pandemic as a rising star in the new wave of bedroom pop. She has released a number of catchy, trendsetting songs on both 2020's EP Oatmilk and 2021's EP Bonnie, including tracks like "Cotton Candy" and "PISTOLWHIP." Collaborations with Jawny, Tommy Genesis, and Gus Dapperton speak to the wide variety of influences and elements weaved throughout her music.

As spill tab took the stage in Portland, her set transitioned seamlessly between French and English lyrics, paying homage to her identity and captivating the audience song after song. The first few tracks began seated with an acoustic guitar, but the energy quickly ramped up as she began to move around the stage and interact with her bassist, Caleb Buchanan, and banter with the crowd about a current favorite, Love Island. From the front of the crowd to the back of the ballroom, it was clear that she was radiating happiness in the midst of the stage lights.

The middle of her set was marked by a crowd sing-along to Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone," and eventually transitioned to a dreamy setting of blue and pink lights for her top track, "Cotton Candy." She closed out the set with "PISTOLWHIP," a personal favorite that feels distorted and chaotic, yet so intentional, as it encompasses both anger and vulnerability.

spill tab's music is exactly the kind of thing you would put on for a midnight drive or a late-night hang with friends; it's comforting and nostalgic, yet feels so new and exciting. Listeners will immediately be drawn in by the number of gritty, experimental layers, and the lyrical storytelling is sure to make you stay.
